Donald Ray "Donnie" Howle

Hartsville, SC

     It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of Mr. Donald Ray "Donnie" Howle. Mr. Howle passed away Friday evening, August 21st, 2026, while at home with his family. He was 69 years old.

     A native and lifelong resident of Darlington County, Mr. Howle was a son of the late Kenneth and Lucia Mae Tyner Howle. He enjoyed being outdoors and cutting grass on his tractor. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. It is said that he could sell ice in a snowstorm and talk to anyone like they’re old friends. Donnie loved his family and would brag on how smart his daughter and granddaughter are. He and Taylor loved to go “ditch diving.”  No one was more important to him than her. He worked with Nucor Steel for years and then had his own construction business until his health took him out of work.

     Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sharon Howle; daughter, Stacey (Scott) Freudenburg; granddaughters, Taylor Dunn and Isabella (Izzy) Freudenburg; siblings: Hattie, Judy, Sally, and Henry.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Pete Howle, Robert Howle, and Richard Howle.

     The family welcomes friends for a time of visitation on Friday evening, August 28th, 2026, from 5-7 at Norton Funeral Home.
