Doc Gainey, Jr. age 82 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 25. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 at Clyde Church of God. Rev. Don Childers and Mr. Bobby Gainey will officiate. Burial will be in the Clyde Church of God Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Gainey was born in Hartsville a son of the late Rev. Doc Gainey, Sr. and Vernell Outlaw Gainey. He was retired from Carolina Power & Light after 33 years of service. He was a member of Clyde Church of God where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Clerk and Youth Director. He had served on the Hartsville Rescue Squad and the Lake Robinson Rescue Squad and was a member of the Gideons. He was a devoted Christian and well liked by everyone who knew him or came in contact with him.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jeanette Watkins Gainey, Hartsville; one daughter, Lisa Easterling, Hartsville; two sons, Russell (Angie) Gainey, Hartsville and Steve Gainey, Hartsville; six grandchildren, Dustin Watkins, Rachel (Stephen) O’Dell, Clarissa Gainey, Daniel Gainey, Heather (Louis) Norment and Brent Gainey; five great grandchildren, Carter O’Dell, Tennyson Watkins, Braiden Byrd, Raylin Byrd and Henry Norment; one brother, Timmy (Lulu) Lackey, Hartsville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Jimmy Gainey and his Son In Law, Dan Easterling,.
