It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of Mrs. Cora Sue Rhodes Stewart, age 83. Mrs. Stewart went to her Heavenly Home on May 5 while at Carolina Pines RMC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at the South Hartsville Baptist Church. Rev. Russell Gainey and Rev. Marvin Gainey will officiate. Burial will be in the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 7-9 pm at Norton Funeral Home.

Born on October 14, 1942, to sharecroppers Baxter and Myrtle Rhodes, Sue learned the value of hard work early in life. She carried that strong work ethic with her throughout the years, faithfully serving in her roles at Nytronics and Red Fox Apparel where she was known for her dedication and dependability.

Sue was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She was a faithful member of South Hartsville Baptist Church and especially enjoyed attending the Wednesday Luncheons, where she cherished fellowship with dear friends. Some of her happiest moments were the simple ones, including lunch dates at Woodstone with her son, Joe.

She also loved traveling to Walt Disney World Resort with her daughter Angela and son-in-law Marvin, making memories together that her family will always treasure. More than anything, Sue delighted in spoiling her grandchildren, Hannah and Ethan, and pouring love into her precious great-grandson, Wyatt, who was truly the apple of her eye.

Sue was well known for her homemade banana pudding and pineapple rings, treats that became favorites at family gatherings and lasting symbols of her love and care for those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Baxter, and Myrtle Rhodes; her husbands, Richard Riddle and William Marion Stewart; and her daughter-in-law, Glenda Riddle.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Billy Joe Riddle; her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Marvin Gainey; her grandchildren, Hannah Davis and husband Jason Davis, and Ethan Gainey and wife Maddy Gainey; and her beloved great-grandson, Wyatt Dock Davis; Sister Jean Crowley.

Sue’s life reflected faith, strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

"A Life So Beautifully Lived, Should Be Beautifully Remembered".
