Catherine Iona Watson

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Iona Watson, age 89. Mrs. Watson entered into her Heavenly Home on October 16, 2026 while at McCoy Nursing Home.

Mrs. Watson was born in Sumter a daughter of the late L. Parker Hatfield, Sr. and Corinne Smith Hatfield. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and she was loved by everyone who knew her.

Graveside services will be held on Monday October 19, at 3:00 at the Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. Family will speak to friends following the graveside service.

She is survived by one son, Daniel Tommy Watson, Bishopville; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Levan (Sandi) Hatfield, Montgomery, AL.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jamerson Watson, Sr.; one son, Ernie Watson; two brothers, L. Parker (Margie) Hatfield, Jr. and William E. (Bill) (Ruth) Hatfield; one sister, Elizabeth (Dock) Deas.
