Calvin Leroy Cagle, Sr.

Hartsville, SC

     On Thursday evening, August 20th, 2026, Mr. Calvin Leroy Cagle, Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. Cagle passed while at Carolina Pines with his family by his side. He was 70 years old.

     A native and lifelong residence of Darlington County, he was a son of the late WS and Frances Griggs. Calvin never met a stranger. He was a hard-worker and gardener who loved to plant and watch others enjoy the fruit of his labor. He wanted everyone to make themselves feel at home, whether a guest for Sunday lunch or just a quick visit. Calvin was a fan of NASCAR, a true fan of #43. He also enjoyed the LA Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys. When not enjoying sports, he was avid coon hunter. 

     Although he had many things he enjoyed, his greatest loves were for The Lord and family. He faithfully served God and was a deacon for the past 35 years. He was a true, Godly mentor to many men throughout the years.  He also had a special love for his little buddy, Ruthie. 

     Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 46 years, Annette Cagle; son and daughter-in-law, Lee Cagle and Beth Johnson; siblings: Diane (Bobby) Bell, Wesley (Janet) Griggs, Gerald (Tammy) Griggs, and Billy Griggs.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Vera McInville, and Clarence Griggs. Also preceding him in death was a special nephew, Jamie Smith.

     The service of thanksgiving for his life will be conducted at 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, August 23rd, 2026, from Greater Heights Baptist Church. Reverend Danny Holley will officiate, with a committal following in the First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Saturday evening, August 22nd, 2026, from 6-8 at Norton Funeral Home.
