Brian Michael Byrd

Hartsville, S.C.

Brian Michael Byrd, 71 years of age, passed away on June 20, 2022 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Mike was born on January 16, 1951 in Oates, SC. He was the second son of John and Evelyn Byrd. He grew up with his family in Darlington, SC. Mike graduated from St John’s High School. He excelled in a career of turbine generator maintenance, where he worked his way up as a Technical Director. He was a National Guard veteran. 

In 1980 Mike met the love of his life, Sandra Barefoot, and they married December 18th, 1981 in the Washington D.C. Temple. 

He is survived by wife, Sandra Byrd; his children, Billy (Kara) Byrd, Brad (Stacey) Byrd, Megan (Nathan) Ames, and Clint (Meredith) Byrd; his brother, Johnny (Marilyn) Byrd; and his grandchildren, Baileigh Byrd, Emily Byrd, Landon Byrd, Brady Byrd, Everly Ames, Stella Byrd, Liv Ames, and Adalyne Byrd; and great-grandchild, Emslee Branham. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Byrd. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on June 23, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Hartsville, SC. Burial will be in the LDS Cemetery in Society Hill and directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Pallbearers will be Skeebo Kelly, Johnny Barfield, Justin Barfield, Al Britt, Chris Moody, Bunn Tyson, and Andy Morrison. Honorary pallbearers include Stevie Galloway and Terry Odom. 

Mike had a fulfilled life excelling in the outdoors, golf, and being a beloved Papa. A tribute to his life will be presented by Johnny Byrd and Skeebo Kelly.
