It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of Bobby Ervin Gordon age 82. Mr. Gordon passed away September 1, 2026 while at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 4, 2026 at 3:00 at the Chapel of Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Dan McArthur will officiate Burial will be in the Kelleytown Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Bobby, delivered his last load on Sept 1, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on May 28, 1944, in Kinston NC. He was the son of the late Vernon Norward Gordon and Lillie Belle Tingen.

 Bobby grew up with a deep love for the open road and a strong work ethic that defined his entire life, for over 61 years, Bobby sat behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler, proudly logging millions of safe miles across the highways and byways of America. Known on the CB radio as “Day Dreamer” he viewed trucking not just as a job, but as a way of life, an adventure, and a vital service to others. Whether hauling through a midnight snowstorm or an early morning sunrise, Bobby found peace and freedom in the hum of the engine and the endless white lines.

 Beyond the cab of the truck, he was a dedicated husband who loved nothing more than returning home to family at the end of a long haul. He is survived by his wife Dora Ann Gardner Gordon, sister Peggy Hinson; sons, Bobby Lynn Gordon, wife Vanessa, Tony Gordon, wife Marla, David Gordon, wife Renee, Robert Beasley, wife Jane, Daughter Lori Newsome, husband Lance; Grandchildren Michelle, Brittany, Drew, Justin, Tyler, wife Nina, Tatum McArthur, husband Robby, Matthew; Great Grandchildren Jason, Serenity, Bruce, Colton, Grayson, Layla, Able, Marshall, Collin and Ellie. 

Though the rig is parked and the logbook is finally closed, the memory of Bobby Gordon will roll on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down, until we meet again.
