Betty Jean Hall Sarasin

Betty Jean Sarasin, wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away after a short illness on August 8, 2026, at Carolina Pines Hospital in Hartsville.

She was born on the Fourth of July in 1934 in Hartsville, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband, Stuart (affectionately known as Curly) Sarasin, her sisters Mazalee Hall Vaughn and Carolyn Hall Mollo, and her brother Dick Hall. She leaves behind her brother Pedro Hall and many nieces and nephews. 

After marrying Curly, she embarked on a new chapter, moving to Portland, Oregon, and eventually settling in Vancouver, Washington. It was there that she enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. After three decades of dedicated service, Jean retired, only to find her new calling in her neighborhood. She established a beloved dog-sitting business, serving her community with love and pride. 

Her last few years were spent at The Legacy of Hartsville. She was a fixture at Bingo games, a patient teacher of Mexican Train dominoes, and a lover of puzzles. Her green thumb brought life to flowers and vegetables, and she spent afternoons rocking in the chairs out front, sharing stories with friends. Betty Jean Sarasin's legacy of kindness, independence and hard work will forever be a blessing to her family and friends.
