Betty Howell Parrott Rhodes

Hartsville, S.C.

Betty Howell Parrott Rhodes, a devoted wife, loving mother, adored grandmother, and cherished friend, crossed over to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early hours of October 8, 2025 at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and steadfast strength.

Betty was a woman of conviction — strong in her beliefs and unafraid to stand firm for what she knew to be right. She carried herself with confidence and grace, offering her voice when it mattered most. Those who knew her saw not only her warmth but also her strength, loyalty, and the deep sense of purpose that guided her life.

Her greatest joy was sharing life with her beloved husband, Andrew Rhodes, her partner in every sense of the word. Their love was genuine and enduring — a true reflection of unity, trust, and deep affection. Whether hosting guests in their home, spending quiet evenings together, or attending church, Betty and Andrew were rarely apart.

She had a deep love for her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren, and poured herself into their lives. Her pride in them was evident in every conversation, every prayer, and every moment spent together.

She found joy in being surrounded by people — in her home, in her church, and in her community. Hospitality was one of her gifts, and her home was often filled with laughter, good food, and heartfelt conversation. Her church family was an extension of her own, and she found purpose and joy in serving, connecting, and encouraging those around her.

Betty is preceded in death by her first husband, Dante Parrott; her beloved son, Kevin (Gretchen) Parrott; her sister, Peggy (Gerald) Gainey; her mother, Otcha Mae Howell Gardner; and her father, George Belk Howell.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Andrew Rhodes; her daughter, Tonya (Chris) Bell; her grandchildren, Dawson (Mahla) Bell, Karis Bell, and Kierstin Bell; her great-granddaughter, Oakley Elizabeth Bell; her brother, Willie James (Janie) Howell; her nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Betty Parrott Rhodes will be remembered for her courage, generosity, strong spirit, and unwavering love. She lived with purpose, gave with her whole heart, and left an indelible mark on all who had the honor of knowing her. But she will be best remembered as an awesome woman of God.

The visitation will be held at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville, South Carolina, on Friday, October 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We will celebrate Betty’s life with the graveside service on Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church. Rev. Ken Hughes will officiate.

"A Life So Beautifully Lived, Should Be Beautifully Remembered".

Norton Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Rhodes Parrott family.
