Funeral services for Bertha Cato Howle, age 92, will be held Tuesday at 4:00 at the Harmony Church in Sumter. Rev. Dan Keaton, Rev. Drew Choate will officiate. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Bishopville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Howle was born in Sumter a daughter of the late Aquilla Burl Cato and Bertha Prescott Cato. She was a member of Harmony Church and a former member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hartsville. She was a former Telephone Operator at Coker College in Hartsville and later worked in Home Care Services. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Sylvia Howle (John) Blalock, Eastover and Paulette Howle (Frank) Comer, Palatka, Florida; three sons, Thomas Howle, Sumter, Stephen Howle, Hartsville and Billy Howle, Columbia; one sister, Priscilla DuBose, Sumter; one brother, Paul Cato, Inman; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
