Mrs. Arlene Rose Raus Compton, age 85 went to her Heavenly Home on August 29 while at McLeod Health, Cheraw with her loving family by her side. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Friday at 3:00 at the Chapel Norton Funeral Home. Rev. Fred McDaniel will officiate. A visitation will be held following the service at the funeral home and at other times at 6730 Highway 102, Patrick, S.C.

The Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Fort Jackson Cemetery Mausoleum.

Arlene was born November 2, 1937 in Ann Arbor MI. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Elmer Raus and Verna D. Shettelreau. She moved to Orlando, Fl. at an early age, where she would live until meeting her knight in shining armor. She married Charles “Gary” Compton on July 2, 1960 and spent the next 63 glorious years together.

Her tender loving heart showed everywhere she went. She truly loved the Lord and her family.  She especially loved children. This was evident in the time she spent with her grandchildren, the day cares she ran or the nurseries she worked in. She never met a child she didn’t love.

On August 29, 2023, after months of pain and suffering, her lord and savior called her home. Now she rests in the mansion her Lord has provided. She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles “Gary” Compton, daughter Janet Lynn Van Der Sluys (Rick), son Wayne “Doug” Compton (Jean), and son Mark Anthony Compton (Teri). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister Dr. Martha Pezo (Mike), sister Elaine Whittington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
