Annie Boykin McElveen

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Annie Lee Boykin Green McElveen announces her home-going on February 2, 2026. The directors of Norton Funeral Home and Crematory of Bishopville, SC, are caring for the family.

Born on September 5, 1927, to Burdell and Lottie Brown Boykin, Annie was a woman of profound grace, industry, and strength. She graduated from Ashwood High School and spent her life nurturing her family and serving the Lee County community through her dedicated work with the Selective Service, Farmers’ Home Administration, and Huck’s Realty. Annie had been a faithful member of Lynchburg United Methodist Church and numerous civic organizations, leaving behind an abiding legacy marked by her three greatest loves: her faith, her family, and her community.

Surviving are her son, William Yancey Green, Jr. (Sharon) of Lamar; step-daughters Sarah Alexander (Marion) of Richmond Hill, GA, and Lynn McDowell (Bill) of Lake Wylie, SC; grandsons Westley Alexander of Richmond Hill, GA, Robert Green (Brittni) of Ellabell, GA, Levi Addison (Brooke) of Columbia, SC, Sam McDowell (Taylor) of Aiken, SC, and Jackson McDowell (Heather) of Clover, SC; and great-grandsons Asher Green, Will McDowell, Michael Addison, and Chandler McDowell. Also surviving are her sisters, Rosa Boykin and Joann Langley (Gene); a brother, Leroy Boykin; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and as she always liked to say, “Cousins by the dozens.”

Mrs. McElveen was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William “Mickey” Yancey Green and Ed McElveen, Jr.; sister Mary Ellen Hayes; brother David “Buck” Boykin; brother-in-law Herbert Boykin; sister-in-law Margie Boykin; nieces Kaye Boykin, Debra Jenkins, and Kaynell Boykin; and nephew Wayne Boykin.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February, 5, at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Keith Allison at the chapel of Norton Funeral Home in Bishopville, SC. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery on Pinchum Sly Road in Bishopville.

Annie found simple but great joy tending to her yard, fishing at the lake, or embarking on a new adventure with her sisters. She delighted in feeding her family and gathering them together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Pilot Club of Bishopville (PO Box 231, Bishopville, SC 29010) or another charity of your choice. Ultimately, the greatest tribute to Annie would be to love deeply, live simply, and keep the faith.

The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at McCoy Memorial Nursing Center in Bishopville for their loving care over the past few months.

Pallbearers: Sammy Jenkins, Rick Langley, Ron Boykin, David Boykin, Gary Branham, Brad Marlowe.

Norton Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Green and McElveen family.
