Alvin James Tyner, born on October 17, 1963, in Hartsville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at The Palms of Florence Nursing Home. He was a dedicated member of his community and will be remembered for his strong work ethic and deep faith.
Throughout his career, Alvin contributed to the construction industry, where he built a reputation for his skills and dedication to his craft. His passion extended beyond work; he was also known for enjoying the great outdoors, particularly through hunting and fishing, activities that brought him joy and fulfillment.
Later in life, Alvin's Christian faith became increasingly important to him, guiding his actions and influencing his relationships with those around him. This spiritual journey was a testament to his character and served as an inspiration to many who knew him.
Alvin is survived by his brother, Michael "Mike" J. Tyner, and sisters Marion Tyner Jackson and Ginger Sylvester, all of Hartsville, as well as his step-son, John Hodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. Tyner and Gertrud L. King, his step-father, Jeff King, and his sister, Shirley Tyner Petty.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service starting at 3:00 at Norton Funeral Home and Crematory in Hartsville, located at 1414 West Carolina Avenue, Hartsville, SC 29550. As family and friends gather to celebrate Alvin's life and legacy, may they find comfort in the cherished memories they shared with him.
