David Gordon Williams

This obituary is being published by Norton Funeral Home as a courtesy to local family and friends of Mr. Williams.  All services are being held in Alabama. 

David Gordon Williams, age 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2019. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church, Alabaster, Alabama.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

David was one of three sons born in Hartsville, SC to the late Leslie and Lydia Warr Williams.  After graduating from Hartsville High School and the University of South Carolina (with a degree in Business Administration), he had a long and fruitful career in sales - truly a born salesman who never met a stranger.  He proudly served in the Marine Reserves.   As a faithful member of First Baptist Church, he taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, and worked tirelessly with Boy Scouts of America.  After retirement, David enjoyed working with Belk Department Stores in their Sales Division, was an avid golfer, loved to work in his yard and garden - and remained a true blue USC Gamecock fan!   

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Lyles Williams, son, Christopher David Williams, Birmingham, Alabama, and daughter, Caroline (Chris) Belscher, Alabaster, Alabama; brother, Andrew Hiram Williams (Vicki), Sumter, SC; grandchildren: Seth Belscher, Alabaster, Alabama, and Abigail Belscher, Alabaster, Alabama; Sister-in-law, Carolyn Sifford (Jeff), Hartsville, SC, Paula Murph (Harry), McBee, SC, Vicki Williams, Sumter, SC; and Nancy Williams, Naperville, Illinois; Nieces: Dr. Megan Murph, Spartanburg, SC,Tiffany Watford, Hartsville, S,C, and Melissa Williams, Naperville, Illinois; Nephews: Lee Murph, Hartsville, SC and Leslie Williams, Naperville, Illinois,
David is predeceased by his father and mother, Leslie and Lydia Warr Williams, and his brother, Leslie Joseph Williams. 

The family would like to thank the Brookwood Hospital Hospice for their loving care.  The family wishes to extend special thanks to the men from David's Sunday School Class for their untiring devotion through prayers, visits, and unwavering care for David.

Memorials may be made in David's memory to First Baptist Church, 903 3rd Avenue NW, Alabaster, Alabama, 35007.
